In society today, the average woman works a highly demanding job and is still required to fulfil set familial responsibilities. With a structure like this, it is no surprise that the modern woman struggles with prioritising herself now more than ever. 

NWS is the product of our founders’ vision to help the modern woman increase her productivity, self confidence and well being through an unbeatable weight loss program.

A few words from our founder

This journey started due to my personal struggles with my weight. I saw weight loss success as something that happened to other people and not me since I had always struggled with having high body fat. I gave up early and never really paid attention to the root cause of the problem. My Nutrition and Eating habits.

When life happens to you, your nutrition and physical appearance (weight gain) tend to take the biggest hit. Between getting a degree, family responsibilities, a full time job and setting up side hustles, every moment I had to myself was precious. As you can imagine, I always chose to rest instead of heading to the gym. To top that off, whenever I was stressed (which was almost daily) eating was my sole consolation.  Fast food, hearty home meals, everything! Eating late at night was a regular occurrence due to excessive overtime work.

Over the years, the consequences of my bad eating habits and lack of physical activity began to take form. Slowly but surely, it started with difficulty getting out of bed, sluggishness. Weak muscles and constantly low energy despite 8+ hours of sleep. A growing lack of self confidence from the layers of fat and finally a tightness in my chest (heart) that refused to leave.  

As I was always tired, maintaining good productivity became Increasingly difficult. One day I had to really look at myself and ask the tough question. What will become of my dreams, goals and aspirations?! How do I expect to attain them when my confidence is at an all time low and my body is unable to keep up?!

That was the last straw for me. Being brutally honest with myself is what got me here today. Today I can proudly say that I overcame it. My work schedule did not get better. It was inconvenient. The nearest gym was still a 40 minutes ride away. But I did it anyway. 

The first thing to change was my nutrition and eating habits. When I had initially tried to lose my stomach fat 4 years prior, I got a personal trainer and was working out like crazy. But I refused to give up my only vice. Food. As you would expect, I saw no results after multiple weeks and gave up. Was it the trainers fault? No. The fault was all mine for expecting results without fixing the root cause of the problem.

Having taken multiple courses and certifications on Nutrition and weight loss strategies, I made the cut. I revamped my diet entirely, taking care to create a meal structure that was sustainable. This was not a quick 30 day challenge. It was a lifestyle shift.

Next was finding how to incorporate exercise into my day to day life. I worked from home so those 12 hour shifts were spent sitting. I was shy, so jogging about my neighbourhood was not an option either. I needed a gym. Remember I mentioned that the nearest gym was a 40 minutes ride away? Yes. I registered at that gym the very next day.

I am not a fitness guru. Lifting weights was confusing so I started easy. I started with cardio. 4 days a week. I almost collapsed the first day! But I stuck to it. With each passing day it got easier and easier and easier. I felt myself getting stronger and to my pleasant surprise, the devil that had haunted me, that tightness in my chest disappeared after the first week! The feeling of freedom and getting better every day was addictive.

Life was still overwhelmingly busy but I had decided to do it anyway! Note that I started this process to fix my chest issues and not really for weight loss so I did not go near the scale for fear of disappointment.  

After a month had passed something prompted me to check the scale. You should have seen my shock when I found I was down 11lbs! (5kg). That alone changed my life. I went along to lose another 11lbs (5kg) and am now at a healthy and comfortable weight of 136 lbs (62kg).

I can go on and on to explain all the things that happened after but I do not want to bore you. This is simply my tale of how it started for me. The change started with me and with grace I have gone on to help many other women experience the Joy of improving their quality of life through weight loss and nutrition.
